The goal of the Art in Public Places program is to offer a variety of artwork on different sites within the City.

Artists are selected for consideration by a peer panel of artists, arts professionals and community members. From these, one or more may be recommended by the Cultural Arts Commission to the City Council for their approval. These projects are placed in a variety of public sites throughout the City.

Projects are funded in a variety of ways including private donations, grants and foundations. Artists are also involved in design-team efforts to work with architects and engineers on City Capital Improvement Projects. They contribute ideas and solutions to the projects in the early design phase and are included in the final construction of the projects.
