Pervious Concrete Pavement
The City of Manhattan Beach is excited to announce the installation of pervious concrete pavement in five of the City’s parking lots. This project was made possible by a $900,000 competitive grant awarded to the City from the State Water Resources Control Board. To get answers to FAQ's about pervious concrete pavement or to learn more about it visit the National Ready Mix Concrete Association website.

Water Conservation
Southern California is a desert, that is just a fact of life. So what does that mean for you and me? Well, it means that water is scarce - in fact we import almost all of our drinking water from the North (the State Water Project). We also rely on water from the Colorado River (Colorado River Aqueduct). Water is a precious resource that we must conserve responsibly. Learn more about the City's Water Conservation Ordinance and what you need to do to save water.

Water Quality
Protecting our beaches and oceans is an important goal for the City of Manhattan Beach. Learn more about Storm Water Pollution Prevention and what you can do to make difference.

Air Quality
Due in part to the prevailing winds that blow eastward, Manhattan Beach enjoys very good air quality, but that also means our pollution is pushed to the east. As such we believe we have a responsibility to the region to do our part in improving the region's air quality.  One of the ways we are doing this is through the use of alternative fuel vehicles.  15% of the City's fleet now operates on an alternative fuel such as compressed natural gas (CNG), electric power, and propane.   The City also sponsors an employee rideshare program that encourages city employees with incentives to carpool or use an alternative form of transportation to get to work.

For Rideshare Information call 1-800-COMMUTE.
