Introduction to "one brush" sumi-e Japanese brush painting. The first four subjects are bamboo, chrysanthemum, plum blossom and Chinese orchid. Continuing students will learn different kinds of trees, landscapes with mountains, clouds and waterfall compositions. Other categories to learn are people, animals, fruits and vegetables. Instructor Beth Muir transforms her originals into greeting cards. Sumi-e (black ink picture) is a painting alive with the power to stir the emotions of those who see it. Registration is required; please call the Older Adults Program (310) 802-5447 to register.
